Types of Massages

Massage is incredibly versatile, it stimulates the blood and lymph systems, relieves muscular tension, stimulates the release of bodily chemicals, exercises the muscles and helps regenerate the skin.

There are a number of different forms of massage here at the spa and each method differs in strength direction and amount of pressure applied. No one form of treatment supersedes another and many therapists use a combination of methods within their treatments.

Sports

This is a specialised form of massage used to treat specific muscular problems or injuries rather than for relaxation the techniques employed often involve deep tissue massage to promote circulation and can sometimes cause discomfort.

Swedish

This form of massage was pioneered in the late 19 century by per Henrik Linger, he analysed ancient massage techniques and clarified their application, it is primarily used for beauty therapy. The techinques in this type of massage include pressure applied by the hands, percussion type tapping usually by the sides of the hands and fingers, kneading is applied with the knuckles and the palms of the hands. Pressure varies according your needs.

Mechanical

This involves the use of two types of mechanical massage applicators, handheld devices which have a tie-break to really affect on soft tissue areas they mimic the action of the human hand and are primarily used to conserve the energy of the therapist however they are not always suitable for aromatherapy as many oils will have a corrosive effect on the rubber parts of the applications of the appliances.

Shiatsu (Accupressure)

Shiatsu is an ancient eastern technique which requires a therapist to apply pressure with his or her fingers thumbs elbows knees and feet it works from the premise that all the energies of the body flow along invisible lines known as Meridia ends and that these are prone to blockage shiatsu aims to restore the flow of energy by unblocking these lines using specific pressure points on the body there I was 600 shiatsu points throughout the body and knowledge of a few of them can be very useful in massage.

Reflexology.

Is a healing art dating back thousands of years and is known that the ancient Egyptians used it, from painting is found in the pyramids. Reflexology works on the principle that there are zones or reflex points on the feet and hands which are meant to connect to various glands organs and parts of the body are trained reflexologist can dictate to congested points and exert pressure upon such areas ultimately clear in them and plus I didn't get immune system it is said that to be particularly beneficial to the smooth operation of the length and the endocrine glands.

Aromatherapy.

Aromatherapy uses massage movements and natural oils extracted from parts of plants to help treat certain conditions. Base oils and essential oils are extracted from the plants. Essential oils are normallly absorbed throught the skin, where they travel through the bloodstream. Aromatherapy can be used for relief of aches and pain, and can also help with brain function.

Testimonials

I never knew Antonio was a therapist. Only on chatting to him in the sauna, he told me the different therapies he does, , I've never been to a male for massage before, but he did make he feel very comfortable, so decided to try him out. The experience was unbelievable, his touch is spot on, the right pressure, speed, it's as if he can read your mind.

I did say to him that all the masseuses there are brilliant but he has the edge...
